What is the point of this?

You can watch real footage of this race on YouTube in addition to many other documentaries about it. Why waste time watching a dramatized re-telling of this when you can watch the real thing? Ford should be paying me to watch their commercials, not the other way around.

reply

Then dont watch it.

reply

I wasn't going to.

reply

LOL. What's the point of coming into a forum about the film to bash a film you haven't even seen and don't plan to see?

Oh, yeah....trolling is the point.

FYI...I saw it and give it a 9/10.

reply

Exactly.

I, for one, am excited for the part when the two rivals are surrounded on one side by a group of vengeful ninjas, and on the other side a horde of zombies, and Ford Man and Ferrari Boy have to team up for the common good to defeat them. The hybrid Fordrari that they A-Team together is supposed to be kick-ass!

reply

This isn't the soapbox.

reply

Whats the point in any dramatisation then you fool? Why don't you watch it you might enjoy it

reply

There is no point to any dramatization of a boring real-life event, e.g. The Social Network, a film literally about a guy sitting in front of a computer and coding.

By the way, beating Ferrari in a motorsport competition is hardly an achievement anyway. Just look at Formula. Ferrari hasn't won the driver's or constructor's championship in many years, and they are pretty irrelevant in most other racing series too.

reply

It makes me laugh. Henry Ford jr. was a petty guy who obviously bought Le Mans out of revenge, but their victories were completely meaningless as Ferrari had turned competely crap by that time as evidenced by their results after 1966.

I do think the last laugh was on Ferrari by becoming the most succesful team in the Formula 1. Now where's Ford??? If you want to know why this is a movie, the answer is: Disney.

reply

That’s because Formula 1 is the ONLY series in which Scuderia Ferrari competes. This answer was for tree hugger.

Strat, you are right. Ford BOUGHT wins at Le Mans, and then completely faded away. They had ZERO dedication to the sport. They had to hire outsiders Carrol
Shelby and John Wyer to shape their cars and manage their teams. Their 7-liter engines were nearly twice the size of Ferrari’s more technically-sophisticated overhead-cam V12. Brute force plus BIG money, and hiring pretty much the best racing drivers who were willing to drive at Le Mans (Jimmy Clark, one of THE all-time great F1 champions, said he thought it was too dangerous to race at Le Mans) equals big bore. My guess is that Hank Ford the deuce felt, uh, inadequate in the manhood department. The whole thing started because Enzo Ferrari would not sell Little Hank his company.

Did you ever think that not everyone knows about the story? Why the hell would someone who knows nothing about the story/race (like myself) go and watch the "real race"? I've never even heard of it..but if I watch this movie I will learn about it and if I enjoy it I might just go look up the footage of the actual race...

reply

R u not entertained?

reply

Are you not entertained........for that is why you are here

reply

You remind me of a friend of mine who couldn’t understand why Flags of Our Fathers was made into a movie.

reply

Just another dime a dozen WW2 movie.

reply

The thing is the setting is WWII but the movie is really about a broader theme.

reply

Drama! Spirit!
