Best version?

I've read the book and I've only seen the 1989 version. I'm not particular that it be point by point accurate as the book, but I expect it to be spiritually faithful. & by that, I mean I don't mind omission or artistic changes in the setting or style but I expect the characters to represent and be as close to how they were in the novel. This is why I detest the newer P&P, I hated the character presentations, Lizzy acted more like Kitty or Lydia than Elizabeth Bennet.

So, amongst the many miniseries adaptations of GE, which do you think would be the best version?

Can't beat the 1946 David Lean version in my opinion.

I know I'm going to sound crazy, but for me, the Ethan Hawke/Gwyneth Paltrow version really captures the spirit of the characters. I know almost everything about the book is changed for the modernization, but I do still feel the spirit of the novel when I watch it.
