Wait... it's Cancelled?

Or is it temporarily on hold?

Just saw episode one; though I am a fan of the novel, I thought that the tv show had some slight but interesting differences. The smug bastards at the new "Firm" kind of pissed me off, but seeing Mitch, Abby, Ray, and Tammy together was kind of the highlight for me.
I thought I'd give it a run through, but I dont think I'll bother if it's cancelled...

Any similar recommendations to stem me off?

Nope. The show has neither been cancelled nor is it 'on hold'. It's airing on NBC, Saturday nights at 9 & in Canada on GlobalTV at 10.

The show is still shooting, with episode 22 wrapping in a couple of weeks. While the chances of NBC buying more episodes are slim to none, strong viewership in Canada and overseas make a second season a definite possibility.

i've just watched episode 13 and i don't mind if they cancel it by the end of season one

the whole show is just too - how should i put it? dragging? it's like never ending suspense and the whole thriller thing - it is just not that engaging

i watch it just so i know how this will end, which is really not the best way a show should be if it wants support

not much of viewership when we are fast forwarding all the episodes

just when i thought they finally get it right, they have to spoil it by twisting it again

i'm beginning to think that the wife is the most unfortunate because of Mitch's persistence and total disregard for his family, he is very selfish

I would think USA Network would be a likely place it could land next season.

With strong viewership in Canada I could see the writers adapt that into the storyline -- have Mitch and the gang move to Canada in an attempt to get away from the Moroltos (of course I know the Mob would not particularly give a damn whether Mitch was in Memphis, Boston, Washington or Toronto if they really wanted to get him, but it's teevee -- illogical plot premises are SOP).

Then they could just film in/around Toronto and not have to worry about "Americanizing" the scenery.

Or...they could just resurrect "In Plain Sight", have the McDeeres relocate to Albuquerque, and Mitch and Ray can work with Mary, Marshall and the rest of the Albuquerque WITSEC crew....

I love this show. I will watch it to the very end. The cast is great. They are a real treat for me since I have followed all their work for many years. I'm up to seeing ep 19. I hope the network lets us see it to the end. That is supposed to be 22 episodes.

I hope they show all of the episodes...

YOU'RE MAKING ME CRAZY!!!!!

I am hugely devoted to this show too. It's a great continuation of the book and I have kept up with every episode every week right from the start. But I just watched the last episode, and while the network does let us see it to the end of the 22 episodes, it's hardly an ending at all.

Obviously this one season was filmed all at once, and that was all the network committed to, with the option of filming a second season pending the overall success and ratings of the series. But they didn't go back and revise the ending of the story even a little bit to give it some sort of conclusion, instead choosing to leave it on a major cliff-hanger, knowing full well midway through this season that there wouldn't be a second one.

Of course, the network wouldn't be obligated to do this, since it only bought the first 22 episodes, but it would've been great if they tried to make the ending somewhat satisfying to its fans by tying up some loose strands; at the very least carry out Joey Morolto's promise to Mitch so we'd know the fate of McDeere and his family.

Not only was the story left inconclusive, it ends - and this is the SPOILER - with Mitch still running, 6 weeks later, which, following a logistic timeline, would likely not occur until after the trial of Patrick Walker. The trial would likely not have lasted another 6 weeks from where they stood in the proceedings at the end of the last episode. The jury had not been far off from deciding to convict or aquit Mitch's defendant, which leaves an enormous gap of unanswered questions and unexhibited events in the storyline.

If there were a follow-up season, this would have been a great place to end the story. But it's disappointing when it leaves you longing for more, when there is nothing more in the works.

This is really depressing. The show is one of only 2 primetime shows I watch every week without fail. Seems NBC has a habit of cancelling their best series...
