Julliette Lewis

Julliette Lewis was the weakest link. Her acting was terrible, someone must have lost a bar bet to cast her. Thankfully she was restricted to just a few secenes where her lines were "i need a cigarette" and other smoking related lines.

I agree. Her performance consisted mostly of pouting her lips and showing off her legs. She's a poor follow-up to Holly Hunter in that role.

reply

Oh God, you could compare the entire cast to the original and not come up with a winner! While I've never enjoyed Lewis, I have grown to become completely indifferent towards her. She was awful when she was younger but has seemed to improve slightly over the last 20 years. Slightly.

reply

all she ever had was white trash sex appeal and that is fading.

Even tho I am considered a senior I have enjoyed every performance I have seen of Juliette's for many years now. She was great opposite Depp/DeCaprio and with J-LO, Not to mention DeNiro. It is sad that her ability to give very genuine real people performances in drama's; and I almost forgot about the Earl appearance, is not appreciated. To be honest I am not that impressed with the rest of the cast of this show. And I have been a Law & Order groupy from day one. I am sure Juliette needs someone who can allow her a meatier part that lets her shine. If the producer/directors would give her a chance she would surprise them. I like her offbeat, uniqueness. Cake?..........

Totally agree! She is a great actress !

reply

"Great" is a HUGE stretch away from the truth. At times competent is more in line with reality.

Juliette Lewis is one of the reasons I watch this show. I absolutely love her and she is an incredible actress!! Her absence from the screen there for a while was totally missed by me at least so I am very glad she is back!!

reply

I appreciate how her lines are designed to recap or re-explain the plot to those who haven't kept up. She also goes into great detail and speaks very clearly so the viewer is well informed. This level of acting and realistic character portrayal is sadly lacking these days :).

reply

I totally agree, but a senior, I may be also. She is a great actress, not a one trick pony like some others are saying. Adele vs Mallory, anyone?

reply

I agree with you... she's a great actor and so is her dad (although I don't think much of him as a upstanding citizen). She isn't always given the right roles, but that may simply mean she has a bad agent or doesn't know how to pick her roles.

Life is a journey not a destination. Fear nothing.

I think she's hottttttt.

I disagree totally. I'm not real familiar with Julliette Lewis but I thought she brought some welcome comic relief to the proceedings. I liked the show and thought she was well cast.

reply

I'm hooked on the show already. I love JL and was glad to see her in this. I knew when I saw her this wasn't going to be a cookie-cutter assembly line drama the likes of which ABC is famous for.

She's actually gained a little weight, so she doesn't look like she's chronically underfed anymore.

reply

Maybe that will happen to me ...? My Dad's twice my age and he's better-looking than me. I had been thinking that it was because he rides his exercise bike every day, and I hang clothes on mine while I watch tv. But I like your explanation better, my family just looks better with age.

Thank you, I feel much better now :)

Alright I'm gonna go watch tv now. I think my Pizza Rolls are done in the oven. I hope I didn't burn them like the third box I made this afternoon.

reply

Her looks aren't really important, because she's mildly attractive but nothing special. The problem is her irritating personality.

reply

Wow, myself and two friends think that Lewis is perfectly cast.

The one we believe is not properly cast is the actress who plays Abby.
She looks older than "Mitch" and they don't seem to have the same type of chemistry that Cruise and Tripplehorn had in the movie.

reply

Yes, she blows.
Her palate worked in Deadwood, that hopeless pile of hamburger presence. All I wanted to do was smack her one. She is just so un-strong. Tripplehorn owned the role. This one got pwned.

Maybe everyone else isn't the ***hole

reply

Who are you talking about? Juliette Lewis in Deadwood? nope. And Tripplehorn played the part of Abby Mcdeere in the movie. Lewis plays Tammy the secretary, oh I get it. You mixed up the actresses.
You don't like Molly Parker.

reply

thank you! i don't always love JL, but she is good in this role. i'm not super-impressed with the writing/directing teams. if they have less to work with for production values, than a team who made a blockbuster movie, then they need to write it really well - strategically and eloquently. this, they have utterly failed to do and frankly, they should be replaced now, to save the show. josh lucas is the only reason i am watching, but i also agree with you and your friends that her ridiculously cast 'wife' abby is no match for him, on any front. she could maybe play a sister-in-law, but come on, that is josh lucas! he could do better if he was passed out drunk in a gutter.

when he pulls his pants down in one scene, even though it is from behind, i want to smack that stupid abby for being in the room at all. why couldn't they have a wife we'd be excited to see? duh.

reply

I kinda agree. I wouldn't blame anyone for casting her (she's had some very good performances so far), I'd only blame this person for casting her for this very role.

reply

She sounds drunk

reply

... and she smokes; in the office. Yuk!

reply

She was fantastic in "Cape Fear", but she was only 17 when she made that movie, I think as she's gotten older she's started to pay more attention to her music than her acting.
