James "Bobo" Fay still looks ill

Does anyone know what kind of illness he contracted? He seems to lack energy, no longer has his "Bobo" smile and sometimes his speech seems impaired. He looks older than his 55 years. He was my favorite character on the show.

I just thought he was a semi-functioning alcoholic. The slurred speech is a giveaway.

He may have had chemo therapy and that is why his hair is cut short.

There can be many reasons for slurred speech or even a stumbling walk.
