Sexist comments

I'm surprised Kate Mulgrew didn't call Shatner out for his bizarre sexist comments in the interview about how women are too overcome with hormones to do any real work. Really she was more or less backing him up.

I believe he was talking about motherly instinct. They were talking about how difficult it was to do the show while being a parent, and even more difficult with her being a single parent.

If you notice she goes on to mention mrs. clinton and how it would be easier for her with her children being fully raised.

That said, I didn't get the feeling he was trying to say that women were inferior and couldn't do it.

It did kind of seem like he was interrogating her, though, rather than interviewing.

I found the whole segment unpleasant, compared to his interviews with the others.

I found Shatner a bit annoying/mildly endearing before watching the Captains, but this made me just dislike him.

Nope nope nope - she was talking about how difficult it is to work a job like that when you have children because there is no flexibility and no willingness to adapt or try to meet the needs of moms with kids. He completely shut that down and said it's not realistic. Twice then he tried to hammer on his point about hormones. She was trying to deflect the hormone thing and not deal with it - probably because it was so bizarre and sexist - but he kept bringing it up. Dude is sexist.

Not only that, he brought up the 'raging hormones' again even when Mulgrew was talking about women in situations after kids have grown. So clearly the raging hormones was still there with or without kids according to Shatner.

Shatner was simply trying to get information/feelings out of her to make the interview as revealing and entertaining as possible.

Shatner, Stewart, and Bakula all mentioned their divorces....so Shatner was prodding her a little on her possible problems. He did it in a nice way though.

I think some people are being way too sensitive.

If Mulgrew wasn't offended what business do you have being offended...my god people relax
