Wasn't this filmed a couple of years ago with a different title?

Director and cast seem familiar and I know Mario directed a film that never got released.

Yes, it is "Kerosene Cowboys", filmed in 2008.

I don't know what to make of this production. Shane West said in an interview that they never even finished filming, after the original Russian producers ran out of funding (something they kept secret for as long as possible, apparently).

The Russian producers told me in an email in 2010 that filming did finish, and the movie would see a release in the year. That never happened, and in early 2011, everything about the production disappeared. I tried to contact the same person I did the first time, but I got no further replies.

Then a couple months ago it emerged that a new company, Aldamisa, owns the rights to the film, and is trying to sell it for distribution. Good luck to them.. I watch anything with Rachael Leigh Cook.

But.. with all the production issues this had (and a dispute on whether or not they even finished the thing), don't expect anything but a very poorly done film.

Thanks. I have to admit Rachael is my main reason for wanting to see it as well.

A Russian production? I wonder if they also shot scenes where the Russians were the good guys? (like they would do here). There was a lot of Russian in the movie, with no subtitles. Plus, some of the Americans were bad guys. So it would be easy to edit two different movies.
That would also explain where they got all the Mig 29's(?). Pretty ratty looking ones, at that. Like some of the CGI.
The movie's OK. And a bit of a mess. Rachel doesn't hurt! 'Randy Disher', from Monk, is in the movie, too. Who is that guy, I kept thinking...

OMG! This actually took 6 years to be released? If true, that gives sitting on the shelf a whole new meaning.🐭
