I hope this movie gets a full release+promotional push

I understand it's going to be much more of a documentary style of film...and it's being filmed, at least in part, with IMAX cameras.

But I really hope this gets to be a rare instance of a 'documentary' that gets picked up by a faithful studio and promoted and pushed in terms of a full scale release.

I'm sure something like this will be a bit of a hard sell to the masses...but I think this is such a compelling concept...the idea of seeing a documentary that is being developed with a high level sense of production about THIS subject matter....it's great.

Seeing origin of the universe type stuff in made-for-TV specials just doesn't do such a truly epic event justice.

The sequence in The Tree of Life that covered the sort of origin of the cosmos was probably my favorite part in the whole movie. Seeing that expanded into a feature length sequence could be stunning.

I don't think it's going to catch on with the masses I'm afriad, but the investors behind it will do well with it especially it's shorter educational version. Part of the issue with it probably not being accepted by the mainstream is because of documentaries rarely doing that well to begin with, and on top of that this is not going to be a straight up science documentary, but a science documentary and a phliosophical journey. This will have even less appeal than TTOL because it doesn't even appear to be a narrative film with stars appearing. Myself though, I'll probably see it many times because I love every one of Malick's films, and from the looks of it VOT could be his final film.
