I don't GET all the pans and put-downs of this movie!

I plan to write my OWN review, but since it's been a while I guess I'll have to put it back in my Netflix que so I can watch it again and make sure I'm fresh on everything. I don't know, maybe most of the characters are one-dimensional, as one reviewer says. But that same reviewer pans it for all the nudity, bordering on "soft-core porn." Well come on, give me a break. It IS a movie about working in the porn industry. It's actually SET in the headquarters of Kink.com in San Francisco, a business that bought the old Armory building, which was run down, and the neighborhood along with it, and revitalized the whole neighborhood. All the "kinky" actors and actresses who work there are also good, hard-working, tax-paying Americans. It just so happens their work is in the porn industry. So what? It's still hard work.

If you don't like the porn industry, then say so. Don't slam a movie because it gives it a positive portrayal for a change, which is what Cherry does, DESPITE all its descriptions, which make it seem like a tragedy which ends with a dead young lady, or something. I won't say quite how it ends, other than to say that Cherry "comes out on top," to be a bit cliche, and nobody else gets stepped on in the process.

For those cynics who think somebody always has to get hurt for someone else to succeed, well, I wish all the happiness you can stand... IN HELL!

I just watched this and can say very specifically that's this film had no point, purpose or direction. It's basically a collection of characters and scenes. The story doesn't go anywhere. The acting is fine across the board but there's hardly any narrative, just a very vague journey of one lead that is also feels like I random collection of events in her life. I don't see any real development whatsoever.
