It looked great but it had a low budget feel and it folded like a cheap suit in the end my friend.
It was produced by Jason Blum, king of low budget horror movies, so I'd guess the budget was around $1 million or even less.
share1.3 mil budget, and it looked great for that. No set dressers necessary since it was filmed at an actual abandoned asylum, with an unfortunate tragic past. That had nothing to do with the initial conception of the movie at all, and the title was changed to suit the location. It was intended as a fun horror-comedy, and paid off.
As for Lang, he's mega talented. Don't diss on such a wonderful man, just having some fun.
