Sends a clear msg about working in Indie games

All I can say about this movie is that if you were thinking of going into indie video game design before watching it, this movie would definitely convince you otherwise. The multiple personal/financial/social sacrifices that have to be made and the amount of angst/tension/depression/hopelessness felt constantly even for the very best Indie developers was just too much to be a healthy career choice.

And these guys in the movie managed to make some money off of their games, but many guys whos games aren't rated extremely well will fare much worse and their game may even bankrupt them.

Cold hearted truth is, it's only YOUR opinion. If you don't believe in your project enough, then obviously it will fail. You have to push it more and more until it get the attention you want. If you don't think you should work some extra times on it, then you're a bad programmer/game maker/it was an idea that you judged good back then. There is always something to be fixed/corrected/etc..

All i get from people who wrote the negative reviews is that they obviously do not understand what programming is. Seriously, trying to make everything fit with everything, literally from graphic to all actions made from your character or anything you can interact with in game, of course it's gonna take a long time for only 2 guys! Not counting the times it takes to fix all the bugs (For all the elitist ignorants out there, programming a game without any bugs is practically impossible, except for a very short game. If you don't make any mistake, then you would be hired by the Nasa or something.) I know it's exaggerating for some people but you need a certain IQ to be able to do this.

I'm pretty sure the OP is still just a child or very misinformed, but if anyone think this guy is right in anyway, then you should really watch ''Indie Game ; the Movie.'' if you haven't. It will definetly teach you more than this clueless opinion of benjtsang.

I think that you're right. The thousands of hours that go into this single piece of art, just shows people how much of a hassle there is in making art. It's going to turn off a lot of people to becoming artists, and that is awesome. People need to know these things before going into things. The true artists are those who are willing to make huge sacrifices just so they can finish an art piece, which won't necessarily make them any money, but is something that they believe in. We don't need the others. If you're not willing to spend time and money on your piece of art, then why should we?
