What happened to Penny? I missed the entire last season and am catching up on some newer episodes and apparently Penny is more than a peanut now.. She can shape shift into a bunch of small animals. Did they explain this in the show? I know it's not normal for her family to shape shift because we have seen Penny's family and they still look like peanuts as adults. So.. what happened?

Basically Penny was that creature all along, but she remained in the shell (the peanut) because the shape-shifting can be volatile. Gumball accidentally cracks her shell and Penny learns that he still likes her even in her true form.
Thanks, that is crazy! I can't believe she wasn't a regular peanut. I'll have to keep an eye out for "The Shell".
