Why did Carrie's mom contemplate killing her when she was born?

I'm watching this movie on MTV for the first time right now and I don't remember that scene in the original film. It seems very out of place, especially since Carrie's mom is a fundamentalist Christian and I'd presume she would wish to uphold the sanctity of life.

Because Carrie was a product of rape. Carrie's father Ralph had gotten drunk and had sex with Margaret one night. Margaret was such a nutcase lunatic that she saw all sexual contact as an afront to God (basically all sex=rape), so she wanted to kill Carrie because she saw her as a cancer that infected her body.

Except that she didn't kill her becasue she said she loved her deeply. It wasn't a rape in the film, either of them, she said she liked it.

Only those with no valid argument pick holes in people's spelling and grammar. 

In the book Margaret doesn't know she's pregnant, she legitimately thinks she has cancer and is dying she doesn't equate sex to pregnancy (as she is delusional and extremly mentally ill). So when she gives birth she thinks Carrie is a product of the devil. That is why she thinks about killing her.
