You seem little bit like a naive if your question is to be taken seriously, but this ain't something you watch with your family, and the same applies with LvT's work in general...The name tells a lot and also the MPAA rating gives you a clue ... but in any case I got two words for you: Hell, No !!! Go and see it alone...

Check this link why not :-)

I saw "Dogville" and "Melancholia" with my mother and she liked both.

But "Nymph()maniac" is definitely not suitable for family time.

I wouldn't say that about all of Lars von Trier's works. I've watched with my mom "Dancer in the Dark" and she cried, but because she really felt the film, she liked a lot, but it is so sad that she cried. None of us regretted it. I LOVE that film.
We are looking forward to watch together "Dogville" and "Melancholia".

This thread seems like trolling, but I wanted to know serious answers, because I don't know if I would watch it myself. I don't have any trouble with explicit sexual scenes if the script, acting and direction is good, and the scenes are needed. But I don't want to see pornography (real sex), so I guess I'll pass.

I'll never make the same mistake I did with "Irreversible". I didn't knew too much about the film, and back then I invited my mom to watch it in the theatres. She was so uncomfortable in the rape scene, damn, I was very uncomfortable! I felt guilty for months. She wanted to leave the theatre, but she stayed because of me.
Now I bring her to many films like "Life of Pi", "Gravity" and "Maleficent" hahaha.

Please excuse my terrible redaction, english is not my native language.

I wrote LVT's work in general, not all of his films... Most of his movies include some scenes that I would be uncomfortable watching with one of my parents. I wasn't trying to troll or anything, just expressed my opinion on the matter !

Unless you like awkward stuff! I would never in a million years watch this movie with anyone!

You heard me.

I think it depends.I've seen this movie and I could see it with my dad but maybe that's just me. I wouldn't really care.
Depends on how skittish you and your mom are

You really don't have to dig your mother out for this. Let her rest in peace, it must have been at least 40 years since she left this earth.

More like fail troll.

Hey, Soldier. Do you know who's in command here?

reply

HAHAHAHA! Thank you for that. I got a mental picture of a family sitting down to watch this together.

Mom: Who wants popcorn?

child 2: I do! I do!

Dad: Observe, children! Here he is going in through the back.

Child 1: Shut up, Dad! You're ruining the movie.

I LOVE it when it's hamburger day!- Romy White
