Which Vol had the better sex scenes in your opinon?

Volume one for sure. I got my fill of Stacy Martin, her perky body getting abused and her explosive orgasmic screams. In Vol II I did enjoy seeing Charlotte Gainsboug get double penetrated by two black guys, and the the sexy lesbian scenes with young Mia Goth, but they were so short lived. Vol. II seemed it tried to go for the much more freaky *beep* in general.

I'm not sure what constitutes "better sex scenes" in regards to this film...

I'm not sure the sex scenes were intended to be outright "sexy," but rather a lense into an arguably unhealthy pathology. However, the central theme of the film questions whether nymphomania is dysfunction or an individual's socially unacceptable raison d'ĂȘtre. My friend could barely get through Vol. I because he literally felt grossed out watching it and he's viewed pornagraphy. Maybe, he's just another uptight wanker.

Haven't watched the film in quite some time, but aren't the scenes of sex with her protege supposed to demonstrate a moral disintegration and the depth of disturbing hedonism. Seeing as how, her protege is a minor. I think it's depicting ephebophilia... And I remember feeling disturbed by that thought. Again, it's hazy, but having abused this young woman, I remembered Jo feeling remorse. Someone correct me, I'm too lazy to look it up myself.

Whatever floats your boat, but the scenes in the movie would definitely be considered gonzo pornagraphy. If you're into that, maybe, try for a porn site?

They were all pretty terrible. The whole movie is terrible really. It's a pointless exercize in style punctuated by Hallmark philosophical nuggets.
But the worst part by far is the sex. That threesome with the two black guys was not only completely un-erotic, it was over the top ridiculous, with the two (porn) "actors" making up words in a non-existent language and being so bad at it, it was just laughable.

Just to ask: have you ever seen a Lars von Trier film before? Because the sex scenes in his films are so far from sexy and erotic, it's actually inspired. Like "Antichrist", for example.

You literally have zero understanding of that scene... ZIL. It amazes me that people come to these boards and rip apart the film, in this case a particular scene, and completely miss everything that was going on.

Since when are mosquito bites considered perky?

I agree with the OP. Certainly, Stacy Martin is more young and attractive, but the sex scenes with Charlotte Gainsbourg are more perverse and interesting.

I think movies that are ONLY sexy are often boring as hell. I liked this because it was interesting, but to say it is "anti-erotic" is going too far. Some of the sex scenes function much better than conventional porn because--as the old saying goes--the BRAIN is the most erotic organ. Most ACTUAL porn is so idiotic and unimaginative that it almost seems to circumvent the brain and just creates an almost involuntary erection. And even if this WERE flat-out porn, Stacy Martin, Charlotte Gainsbourg, and Mia Goth all have very nice bodies, even if none of them is really a conventional-looking Barbie doll type and one of them is now middle-aged (Charlotte Gainsbourg could produce plenty of involuntary boners when she was young).
