So Na-Mi follows Jun-Ho to that "young star music room", she runs out the back door and there are 3 of the Girls Generation gang--the leader says they are
going to change their name to English too--then she says "finkle" as the name.

"Finkle" is a reference to Fin.K.L, a popular k-pop girl group that was active from the late '90s to the early 2000s. Girls' Generation is the name of a current k-pop girl group. Of course, neither group existed back in the 1980s; I guess that's the joke. Lots of musical references in this movie: Na-mi and Choon-hwa were named after real life singers; the Wonder Girls (another current k-pop girl group) were also mentioned when the girls were choosing a name for their group.

Here in the U.S. the song "Sunny" was a popular hit--so in the movie then when
the girls were listening to the radio, that was like a dedication ? saying
their names and then playing the song for them ?
kids here used to do that, have a radio station play a song from someone to
another. they would call or write and ask for a love song to be played.
