Choon-Hwa was gay

I am a BIG fan of this movie. It is porbably my most favorite Korean movie tied with Old boy. I've seen ALOT of korean films....even the super boring ones, and whenever I think of Korean Cinema, the first ones to pop in my head are this and Old Boy, with Memories of Murder as a close second.

I was rewatching this movie the other day, and it just clicked with me that Choon-Hwa was gay (but it wasn't really said).

-She was the most tomboyish of the crew (not that that means gay...but if she was, she was the sexy butch)
-She carried herself like a guy physically
-she was even questioned about being gay
-She never was married and Never had kids
-she didnt even have family members to give money to when she died (As if she was disowned by her family....which wouldnt be surprising in korean culture with regards to being gay).

I think thats a interesting twist that she was most likely a Gay character, and even makes this movie better/deeper.
