I agree with you. The ending was insufficient and tasted like bittersweet, and the final postscript scene was unnecessary.
shareIf they had thrown it in as a "home video" on the side of the credits with no sound and with other home videos, just the last lines being spoken, that would have been nice.
shareI liked it. I didn't particularly like Daniel Travanti's performance (he lacked the depth of character that the "incredibly loved father" should have possessed--Danny Aiello comes to mind as someone who would have nailed this role), but it was nice that they named their child Max in honor of him.
