No its not, it bases on a book called "Before I die" by Jenny Downham...
No its not a sequel for that movie, its far from it. I really hope they do it like the book is, by then... Dakota will get an oscar.
Why would you ask if its a sequel for that movie? That movie ended a way that it would not hae a squel x)

reply

Not a sequel but it sounds like a total rip-off to me.

Um, its about a dying girl who wants to do everything before she dies. and she knows she is dying soon.
Including drugs, sex and a moment of fame. Its a lot more emotional...
It is compleatley diferent than that cheezy walk to remember, which sure is nice to watch if you do not happen to have anything else to do.

= A Walk To Remember

Seriously?! Did you even WATCH A Walk to remember? That movie was about a teenage girl who was dying of leukemia and was prepared to die alone, despite having a bucket list. She had no intention of falling in love or having sex. Just because the two main characters both have Leukemia and are teenage girls, doesn't make it the same movie. I felt that A Walk to Remember was pretty close to Here On Earth- Here on Earth was written first, and filmed the year A Walk to Remember was published.

I did watch a walk to remember.
Actually I was kind of teasing.
Of course they're different, but if you think about the description only, I mean the description I quoted, it matches both of the movies (a walk to remember and now is good), so.

one of them must be a rip off,I did not watch the movie but the topic is definitely the same, but losing virginity thing at the top off the list is just gross, the other girl wanted to get married in the church in which her parents married.

stop talking, brain thinking ! hush ...---The Doctor---

reply

Dakota for an Oscar nom at the very least....I was thinking that the second I finished watching the film!

"I'm afraid to close my eyes, I'm afraid to open them."

reply

well it certainly has been long in waiting for her to get a nomination. She's deserved it on more than one occasion. Do you think this has been one of her best performances? I will have to wait some time to see the movie since I'm not from the UK.

reply

You do know that the girl dies in a Walk to Remember, right? How would they have a sequel?

reply

Sequels can be thematic. For example: A Cinderella Story/Another Cinderella Story/A Cinderella Story: Once Upon A Song. Or the Bring It On movies. And plenty of others.

Drop it like it's legal precedent!

reply

That wouldn't feel right in this instance.

Bucket List / Walk to Remember - very similar elements from each film.

As soon as I read the synopses for this I thought straight away A Walk To Remember. They don't even try and hide the differences. She is Dying of Leukaemia she has a list of things to do before she dies. The difference is one wants to lose her virginity the other wanted to get married in the same church as her mum and dad before she died. Hmmm how times have changed.

reply

we should watch it before we conclude..but i thinks it kinda like a walk to remember but a combination of the bucketlist..

Having seen it, I can tell you that this movie isn't much like A Walk to Remember. There is a similar theme because Dakota's character is dying of leukemia, but her character is nothing like Mandy Moore's. She's figuring out that she doesn't have much time left to make all of the stupid mistakes we should all get to make, trying to find a way to live what she can before she can't. Her character is sick from the outset of the film and there is no waiting for some surprise cancer reveal. You go through this girl's grieving process over the loss of her own life in a very realistic way. I was really surprised and pleased by the whole film, and I've done my fair share of watching cancer movies. This one seriously stood out from the pack, and it was fantastic. The romance bit was not at all overbearing or in the least way the main feature of the film. Her grieving process and how she finds her own way to live and die is really the main concentration of the film.

Closer to 'The Bucket List', but I originally did describe it to a friend as 'A Walk to Remember' without all the hokey religious overtones.
