I struggled to get engaged during the first half of this movie, so I missed why lawyers were required.
Other than an excuse to introduce a stereotypical New York character, this story line seems to make little impact. Her $2,000/hr lawyer says, "That was easy". His $200/hr shyster quotes Lincoln. Later on, she says she's marrying the American.
They were getting divorced. So he wanted to be heard. He felt ignored when his wife admitted the children to a school where uniforms are mandatory. And if I'm not mistaken (I've never been divorced myself or married for that matter but anyway) usually every divorce case has two lawyers, each on the either side. So Xavier wanted his own cheap lawyer who'd prioritize him as he'd be that lawyer's client. Plus I guess he also needed some legal advice because he was living in a new city. Which infact did come in handy over the course of time.
it started out slow. i admit i wanna walk out after dat horrendous openin wid starz namez and intro - i mean who does dis anymo? on a tv show yes, but just show da namez and get on wid movie, i don't wanna see dat borin cg intro and then they show da main starz face all over da screen, huh? 1st off, hez not terribly easy on da eyez and dat seem so full of himself, is he da producer or wat?
long story short, started out like crap but turned out 2 be purdy good
And why did he need a green card and a *beep* job to continue working on his book for a French publisher? The legal issues seemed flimsily fabricated to me.
