Just saw it on Netflix US

I've been waiting for this movie since it started filming in NYC 2 yrs ago, circa hurricane Sandy. Didn't see it in theaters due to the super limited release so was waiting for it to get on a streaming site and I finally saw it on Netflix tonight.

I grew up with these Xavier movies. I was in college when the 1st one came out and I'm a late-30s parent watching this one. It's fun and entertaining and i can relate to these people. Except for Isabelle who's just a cartoon in this one.

I really like Linklater's Before movies too, but those are so intimate and dialogue-heavy, whereas the Xavier movies have this free spirited enthusiasm and silliness that I find so charming. They just make me smile, even when Xavier's life is falling apart.

Tom's actor was perfect casting.

Seeing the SVU lawyer guy as Wendy's new guy was a hoot, esp with the height difference next to Romain Duris.

Seeing so many Asians as regular New Yorkers is amazing. Hollywood take note! Audrey's Chinese accent is not too bad. Not perfect but respectable. I can tell she really put in an effort. Ju's Chinese was actually not good.

New York looks so great in this movie. It reminds me of the New York in 70s and 80s American movies. With all its beautiful blemishes. I wouldn't mind seeing more French filmmakers romanticize America cities on film.

I agree, imready. I was thinking while watching it that this was probably the grittiest I've ever seen New York City in a movie (although I've obviously not seen every movie set in New York that's out there). I loved it. The light was super and enhanced the views and colors. I think now Hollywood tries to present this perfect image of the city that could only exist in a movie.

About Tom, I was thinking he actually looked like the child of Wendy and Xavier. He was very good.

I also chuckled at the shot of Xavier standing across from Wendy's new man. Such a juxtaposition!

I saw your explanation on another thread about the Chinese poem Martine recited for the businessmen. That was awesome. Thank you.
