One of the greatest TV Series of all time.

This is my opinion, all opinions are subjective.

Iv'e seen all episodes and every season, iv'e been re-streaming old episodes, currently season 2, and i believe this is one of the greatest TV Shows of all time. The earlier seasons had a little bit more lightness, they tried their best to add a bit of humour, but the last couple of seasons has become more serious. I personally like the seriousness of the show, The Closer got more serious as well when it was on the air. I'm hoping that Major Crimes continues to stay serious and tones down the humour a lot more. The white supremacy case from this year made last season more serious, but when everything goes back to normal i'm hoping it will be 100% serious or at least 90%.

The light humour elements are understandable considering the powerful storylines, it doesn't ruin the show, if they go overload on the lightness it will start to look like "Castle" and i know that the writers of Major Crimes will not be as foolish as to go that route.

It certainly is. In fact, it's the only series EVER where I am buying every season on DVD just as soon as it's available. I can't wait for the next one.

I'm currently going back through all the ones I have again, hoping to make it last until Season 5 is released. Even when I'm watching episodes I've seen several times already, it's amazing how often I'm sitting there thinking, "I LOVE this show!" There's nothing about it I would change.

There were things about The Closer that I was getting very tired of, but Major Crimes is perfect, time after time.

I'm not too crazy about some of the lighter episodes, where everyone seems to be hamming it up a bit -- but even those ones just provide a bit of contrast to the heavier ones they've done. And most of those have been wonderful.

I agree. The majority of deep powerful storylines have a little bit of humour to release the tension for the viewers, they do the same thing in thriller movies, there will always be a supporting character that adds a tiny bit of comic relief because the topic of the movie is so serious, it's recognised more in a TV Series because it's an ongoing weekly thing, it's fine as long as they don't go overboard.

Major Crimes is a great show and arguably the best police procedural currently on TV. It is better than The Closer, which was good as well. The cases are almost always interesting and the characters are great. I like the blend of serious cases and humor, and the weakest episodes usually are the lighter ones that have a comic tone to them, the regular episodes have a great blend of serious drama and some funny moments and character interaction.
