Annoyances:

Seeing the film for what it was, i felt it was ok. At least it tries to be deeper..

Few things tho:

1. They went hyper 'broforce' at the beginning, even if that was a purposeful societal stab of some sort it was still way over the top and cringe worthy writing.

2. They suck as soldiers. Really crap at holding it together.

3. They didn't bother actually showing/ explaining their escape from everything (mid way through).

4. It seems to think arabic people are mystical space pixies.

5. Horses. Thats what aliens sound like... horses.

5. So... the captain was bonkers then?

6. The monsters didnt do anything monsterous...

7. So.. you have guns.. but opt to strangle a sick kid to death.. and fail to strangle said kid to death. Causing more pain and suffering... good.. job?

..I get that some of these things, like the monsters not being monsterous are intentional creative decisions but they're still annoying decisions.

The monsters simply reproduce and feed (not on humans or the like). They tend to destroy stuff made by man while feeding on electricity, like we do kill or harm to feed. Nothing mosntrous about this. Humans attack and kill the giant aliens only because they think these creatures want to harm them. That's the whole point of it - kill what you don't understand. We become the monsters.

Biggest annoyance: creatures that feed on electricity choose to go to one of the few places on Earth where they won't find any... because showing US soldiers fighting insurgents in the desert still has one the cheapest prodcutions costs of all while showing some action - leaving some money left for decent CGI. Only the storytelling went out of the window.

I agree that the monsters have no malevolent intent, but that is actually often the case for alien monsters in movies. I don't think it would be accurate to suggest that they did not pose a threat. So killing them is probably prudent.
