Was that a giant Alien at the end?

This film bored me into a semi-coma, So I'm not sure if that cloud at the end was a group of Monsters, A mega monster or a group surrounding a giant 'Queen'?.

It's a giant "Queen", she has multiple legs.

i think the main point, is everything they're doing to "bomb the monsters into oblivion" is having no effect, especially since the monsters are spawning newer bigger monsters underground.

it's a metaphor of the dogfight. the pitbull was winning at first, and then the monster adapted itself, by spawning new frontal tentacles suited better to take out the pitbull.

in the end neither of them win, because the thug guy empties a clip into the offending monster. which is basically a metaphor for the result of the movie. the sergeant has lost his daughter who no longer recognizes him. all those kids on the schoolbus have been killed and other arab kids, the soldiers have all lost their lives, and the babies of the monsters have lost their lives.

just like the pitbull vs. baby monster dogfight, this never ending war is lose, lose, lose all around.

No matter what they did the 'monsters' problem was literally getting bigger.

What is their source of food...I mean: an elephant is busied all day with eating, and needs a lot of time to grow that large.

The bigger an animal is, the more time it needs to grow.

These are of the size of Dinosaurs but with a metabolism and growth rate of insects.

And without bones, a sekeleton, they can't get that big actually.

Suspension of disbelief - ok, but it bothers me still.

You totally missed it! This was actually a Star Wars pre-prequel! The thing at the end was the origin story of the Sarlac Pit! PAY ATTENTION!

Maybe George Lucus will make that clearer in the special edition?.
