4.3 ? Gotta be kidding me !

This is at least an 8.3 , possibly even a 9.3. Come ON folks, I realise a lot of people may have been expecting some kinda monsters gore-fest, but does no-one read the plot synopsis before they watch a movie these days ? I knew from the get go that monsters were gonna be a bit thin on the ground in this movie,so I was I initially intrigued how a monster movie could get by with nary a monster in sight ... the result, folks, was a beautifully crafted movie with exceptional cinematography, great acting, a plausible plot and a true message ... Humanity is what counts, whether the 'monster' you're fighting is a huge tentacled alien or another human being in a different country, fighting for what they believe as much as you are. 4.3 ? Gimme a break !

My thoughts exactly! 8.3, I'm with you. It's somewhere between an 8 and a 9.
People who rate this down should be held accountable, hahaha.

Are you two serious? Typical isn't Murica great, stick noses where it's not needed, Muslims are bad propaganda *beep* for most of the film.

reply

This was definitely not an America is great film. If anything it was the opposite.

reply

Yeah I just finished watching it and it was excellent. I can't understand why everyone has been bashing it at all.

reply

Sorry but you did not understand the (messed up) message of this movie at all. It was overcrafted and way to long while only repeating the message from the original movie 4 years earlier. The acting was pretty good, the plot was stupid (US fight a war against giant monsters in the Middle East, bombing civilians so the people start to fight back - come on...this is big BS). The movie had a message lost between all the long scenes, one that does not make you want to fight for humanity if even your comrades turn out to be monsters. The aliens are not enemies. Humans fight them anyway because they don't understand them and don't try to. In the long run humanity will lose this fight as the alien reproduction rate seems to be endless.

This is precisely what happens today, just replace "giant monsters" with "Al Qaeda" or "ISIS".

Wipe out all the muzzies.

I'm thinking it's more like a 2.3, for being fairly poor overall, AND re-committing the same jerk move they did in the first one - making a monster movie that had nothing to do with monsters.

I've seen things that would make you want to write a book on how to puke.

reply

Typical of this site - what they should do is you can only vote on a movie if you scan your fu**ing ticket !

reply

While this movie may be what it claimed to be, I think it would be disingenuous to not acknowledge that they were probably banking on people mistaking it for a more traditional monster movie. Yes, the consumer can educate themselves better, but this was an intentional bait and switch.

reply

It doesn't suck because of the lack of monster gore. It sucks because the characters aren't likeable and the cinematography is super hack.
