This show really grinds my gears.

I really wanted to like this show. Really. I live in Chicago. I'm a twenty-something. I'm fresh out of college. This would be right up my alley, right?

NO.

This might take awhile, so I've decided to outline.

1) So Lou and Reviva live in a loft apt in Lincoln Park? Without roommates? With Lou working a menial office job while Reviva sings to some boner-stranger in a lakeside park? NO.

2) Why even introduce a baby into a storyline? Am I supposed to believe that Reviva is THAT in shape after carrying a kid who somehow popped out 6 months old and quiet as a titmouse? I hope to GOD that if I ever decide to have kids, I can have a Rosemary that allows me to have such a fresh face and high energy day after day.

3) Don't get me started on Daphne. I mainly mute the television during her screen time while I hide her awkward speaking mouth behind my two middle fingers. And Madora? Puhleeeeze. Since when is "tequila for women" such a ground-breaking campaign? Hasn't college spring break been headlining that scene since the beginning of time? Congratulations Daphne, YOU ARE NOT INNOVATIVE.

4) Oh and Sophia, I love that you're so well read and intellectual with your dreams of becoming the next, I dunno, Erica Jong, or some *beep* but it's hard for me to take you seriously when the camera pans to your collection of "inspiration" and it only consists of ten books. Let me guess, Catcher in the Rye (check), Pride and Prejudice (check), War and Peace (check), The Great Gatsby (check). Maybe you haven't read anything outside High School English class requirements, but you might want to have that checked out.
a) And that episode where you told your parents that you are a lesbian? Did we really need the whole "Miles, hide my lesbian stuff from my parents!" bit? CANDLES AND THROW RUGS. REALLY. If that's the case, maybe we all are a little bit lesbian.
b) GET OFF YOUR *beep*!ING PHONE AT WORK. That *beep* doesn't fly in the "real world"

I could go on and on, and I probably will with each new episode. Keep checking back for my inevitable rants.

P.S. CHICAGO!

I'm with you. These kids are terrible people living in completely unrealistic circumstances.

metatalkingpoints.blogspot.com - Reading it will make you smarter. That, or more angry.

I mean, I know TV shows are a stretch on reality - how realistic are spy movies anyway - but this show is clearly attempting to emulate what youths face, and failing terribly.

It feels like it was written by a bunch of 14 year olds with no real grasp on reality.
