I love the acting he's done...BWE, Take Shelter, Runaways, The Missing Person...even made Iceman watchable...so I wish they would've let him DO some here...like a rendezvous w/ Juniper? I thought "Princess" early on might be setting that up. Nope, just Mike & an admittedly awesome diver helmet...
shareYeah, it seemed like a bit of a 'nothing' part for him to be wasting his talents on... Just a favour to the director, I guess? Maybe he could've played Ellis' dad, instead? (although the actor who had that role did a more than fine job, himself!)

I was surprised how small his part was. Only a 3 minutes scene! Maybe the other stuff ended in the cutting room floor? Or as the other user said, the director asking for a cameo as a favor?

shareHe probably did it as he's good mates with director Jeff Nichol and he did the same for him in Loving as well, a small part that a actor at this point of his career is above. He's been in all Nichol's stuff so maybe he's a good luck charm. But yeah if anyone is expecting a masterclass from Shannon then this isn't the film for it.
