I saw it and I really liked it. I felt that there were some scares but definitely some tear inducing moments as well!

It wasn't bad, slightly better than the usual J-horror fare. It was just too long. 105 mins is crazy for these types of movies, it should be 80, 90 mins tops. Although to be fair I couldn't decide if it was parodying the genre or if it was an honest entry in it. Sometimes it was so generic and cliche, follow by an obvious laugh, that I thought maybe it was making fun of those types of movies.

I don't know enough about J-horror or the Asian communities views towards it to say either way, but it wouldn't surprise me if this was comedic on purpose...

Because the film was so good the length didn't matter.
It is not a j-horror. It is a k-horror.
What was generic and cliche?
Scary music and ghost killing people?
Personally I have never seen a horror with a ghost killing people that are cruel to cats.

Personally I think it was maybe the best Korean horror in a long time.

Hey tbs1,

"Because the film was so good the length didn't matter"
-To you, totally. I found myself getting bored and being distracted because what was happening on screen wasn't so interesting to me.

"It is not a j-horror. It is a k-horror."
-Ah, thanks for the info, but I meant as in the genre this was going for and what kind of movies it reminded me of with it's cliches. It's clearly trying to be a J-Horror in my opinion, no matter the country of origin.

"What was generic and cliche?"
-The generic and cliche stuff was the look of the ghost girl, they fact that she had to find her body to end the curse, her family was cruel to her, etc... all been done.

-Glad you liked it, that's awesome. I loved The Host and some other Korean horror movies i've seen, good stuff indeed...

Korean and Japanese horror films are similar too each other. Sometimes Korean horror films are even more Japanese than the horror films from Japan. The differences I think are that Japanese horror films are more focused on haunted houses and places while not so much in Korean. Korean horrors are also more often about ghost while many Japanese horrors are about monsters and demons.

Ghosts with bob cut and cat eyes never seen before.
Usually the ghosts in Korean horrors looks like normal people.
And child ghosts are not that common in Korean horror. Usually the ghosts are of young adult women or teenage girls.

Personally I don't care if something have been done before or not.
And my favourite Korean horror is Whispering Corridors.
