Why is the dad such an A-hole???
Seriously?!? Poor kids...
shareYeah, he was ridiculous. But I know how some people can get when they think they're family is messing with their head.
shareI don't know why, but I felt as if the Dad deserved to die.
share I did too.
Fate is what you call it when you don't know the name of the person screwing you over.
Agreed, he was a real a-hole, couldnt seem to put his own issues on the back burner for 5 minutes to see his kids needed help.
shareManboob rage.

you can't expect to wield supreme executive power just because some watery tart threw a sword at you.
ok the dad is simply over the top.. i mean d-bag supreme, to his own kids

And his voice when he yelled. He kind of sounded like a woman. I would've laughed.

He is completely over the top, locking them in their rooms and taking away their light bulbs and screaming like a maniac whenever basically anything happens. I think it's meant to play up the idea that these kids might just be sharing a delusion that they have created to cope with their abuse. It's also possibly just meant to signify that he has totally lost it following the death of his wife (which he suspects his own son of). That has to really screw with you. Then add on the fact that his kids are severely troubled and refuse to talk to him about anything.
He's an unreasonable *beep* and he does all of the wrong things, but he is in a pretty awful situation himself.
Chalk it up to horrible lazy writing.
The hack writer said to himself
"This would be so much easier if the kids were stuck in the room. And it would be scarier if it was dark in the room all the time.. I know! I'll have the father character lock his kids in the bedroom and take away the light bulb! Yea! That's exactly what normal parents do. Then I'll have him say the line
IF YOU HAVE TO USE THE BATHROOM JUST KNOCK"
Perfect.
Poor writing, editing. If they had shown the dad dealing with the kids fear of the dark/bed for a bit before, the father would've come off more sympathetic. A dad trying to deal with what seems like irrational fears in kids way to old to have them. Plus having him lock his kid in a darkened room right after you think he tried to hurt himself was stupid. It would've been better if they played it like he believed the kid got hurt on something accidentally that was removed, like a halogen lamp or something.
