Younger lovers really the answer?

Just wondering if younger hunky guys are always the answer to depressed, seemingly "past-their-prime" gay men? It seems, or maybe I've not seen that many gay-themed films, that older gay men get lucky and find that someone but that some one is usually really cute and young, like A SINGLE MAN. It would have been interesting if the Tom character would have been a little closer or maybe older to Yossi's age and perhaps played by someone like the actor that played the other doctor.
