but lily never showed any real intellect. she says barey anything at all. he was an artist, and Gerri was singer/song writer and far from a ditz. She was more talkative and outgoing but she actually shows more depth and personality and intellect throughout the entire film than lily does. realistically, it depends on who someone is drawn to naturally-----but lily was supposedly "smart" i cant think of one example where she said anything intellectual or interesting really. whereas Gerri did a lot. i think in real life, if a guy like him met the girls hed prob be attracted to both as both are beautiful (no way of telling who he would be more attracted to) but getting to know them, i feel like is artistic side would mesh well with Gerri's. they would have immediately at least been friends, with her pursuing him. and had a lot to talk about. but in flms that is too "real" and "cliche" so they make the guy go for the othre one. And Elizabeth Olsen/Gerri is gorgeous, and sweet, and deep. In real life a guy would fall head over heels in love with a girl like that---and realize Lily, even if she is "mystrious and quiet and pretty" is a total bore. Guys go for all kinds of girls, it depends on who you connect with-- but in my experience personally and also what ive witnessed my whole life----guys get super bored of the pretty quiet girls who end up not being mysterious and deep at all but literally just having no personality, and the more outgoing, artsy, fun girl wins the guys. trust me.
and if anyone disagrees about gerri not being the intellectual, the interesting one, the deep one--- I am more than happy to point out several examples from the film where she was, and several examples of the film where Lily was not. I kept thinking "What is her passion? What is she even going to school for? All she does is work for a boat....and doesnt talk a lot. What does he see in her other than her looks?" they said a couple times how lily is so smart but when?? where? that was never shown in the entire film. at all. in fact she was immature, insecure, confused, bratty, moody, and overall not a very plesant prson unless she was with Gerri---- who was much more pleasant and who should of been in the movie way more than she was.
and heres an ironic funny fact: The guy in the film who plays David was in a 3 year relationship/engaged ti Elizabeth Olsen until they broke up recently haha. They met filming this and immeditely starting dating.
