Wouldnt it have been better to have had Australian soldiers instead?

The movie takes place in Australia and is written and directed by an Australian. It would have been much better if the soldiers were Australian soldiers and not Americans. Or maybe they could have had one American solder with a group of Australian soldiers just to keep the American audiences interested? It also reminds me of the movie War of the Dead which didn’t need any American characters involved and U571.

Or at the very least, to have hired American actors, or a vocal coach?

I didn't like this movie, but I would have been more forgiving had the accents (particularly Updike's) not been so woeful - it really puts you against the movie.
