'This will not help' ... 'It might'


I don't know how many people have seen either Seven Psychopaths or the prior directorial effort of Martin McDonagh (a film called In Bruges). Both, in my view, are fantastic. I think that a great strength of McDonagh is his ability to navigate between the brilliantly humorous and the deadly serious.

To that end, I personally found particularly compelling the closure given to the Buddhist. Although he is not strongly featured throughout the film, he is one of such intense rage. For possibility to be given him that he need not stay that way - that he might push that hatred back out of his heart - establishes, I think, the redemptive quality of the film.
