Possibly the best non-action action movie satire

I saw this movie again and it still holds up. Subtle humour mixed with over-the-top garish violence placed on top of a nice commentary about Hollywood violence makes for a nice movie.

Sam Rockwell totally owned his role in this film! Such a great job.

Yes, that's what I liked about it and that's probably also why so many people don't like it: It makes fun of action movies and all the cliches that come with it, but this also means it somewhat makes fun of the people that like action movies and of these' people's movie taste. Kindof like the movie Idiocracy, many people don't like it because deep down they realize that they are much like the idiotic people depicted in this movie and feel offended. Well, the truth oftentimes hurts.

This reminds me of Last Action Hero. A movie that flopped at box office as far as I remember because it was ahead of time and the audience wasn't ready for the commentary on Hollywood and society. Needless to say I loved and still love that movie, it was brilliant and Arnold delivered perfectly. Same is true for Demolition Man btw.

Agreed! And those types of people need to get a sense of humor, pronto.
