So is Walken's movie wife.... (spoilers)

So is Walken's wife in the movie, the same person as Tom Waits' revenge partner? The age seems about right, and both of them did their share of teaming up to hunt killers for revenge, even if it was done differently partnered with Walken.

Just a thought. Anyone?

That's what I thought at first, but Myra and Maggie are different heights and don't look much alike, even accounting for age differences.

well you can't pull that in account. I mean we only see "Maggie" in the flashbacks told by Tom Waits. Much like we see the Quaker in the flashbacks who's portrayed by Harry Dean Stanton but as we all know the Quaker was Christopher Walken.
I personally think yes, Myra and Maggie are the same person. I think the author included the whole Zach / Maggie storyline just to *beep* with us. The time frame and the motives (Myra helping Hans stalking a killer, much like Maggie helped Zach killing killers)just fit too perfectly. By not especially stating it McDonagh keeps us guessing, but for me the two black women are the same person. There wouldn't be much need for the Zachariah character and his backgrounds otherwise, because he's the only actual psychopaths who answered to the newspaper ad. We didn't have a "oh, a bunch of boring weirdos tell their lame stories to score a place in Marty's book"-casting scene.

Nope, Myra and Maggie couldn't be more different as characters. Myra is loving, supportive, calm and peaceful while Maggie is angry, dominating, aggressive and hyper-violent. The only thing they have in common is skin-tone.

You are probably right. The parallel in revenge murder (and approximate age match) is rather poignant, but I was probably making too much of this.

reply

This is also a very good point, their personalities where drastic opposites!

reply

No... not even close. One is named Maggie the other is named Myra. Also they showed Maggie when she was older and looks nothing like Myra, she is taller and darker skinned.

reply

Also, it's implied that Hans' daughter is also Myra's since there's a line that states that they've lost a child. I can't imagine Maggie just stalking her daughter's killer with Hans and driving the murderer to suicide rather than just brutally killing him.
