Oh yeah. And a horrible human being

Love it when they create heroes out of people
that are drug addicted sociopaths. Kudos to a man
that would tell his son he was worthless and leave. A more
horrible man is hard to find....but oh yeah he could really play
those drums...LOL

Who is "they"?
Who made him out to be a "hero"?
The movie was very honest and made it clear he was a horrible person in many ways, but appreciated for his musical ability.

reply

They are the producers (and Hollywood culture in general). Yeah
He could play the drums; what type of scars did he leave on
people and family? If you have kids you'll understand. He was an AH

reply

Seems as if he has his own scars. I'm sure he's aware that he's an *beep* He is who he is, I don't think he comes across as a hero. He strikes me as a guy who is trying to live his life on his own terms, not someone else's.

The documentary seemed pretty objective to me, not glamorizing his acts not condemning them, but rather letting them speak for themselves so the viewer can ultamately make their own decision on them. Also, a documentary about a happy man with a good family just isn't that interesting to watch, it's the scumbags that make for the most interesting viewing material! Anyways, he's a fantastic drummer and in my opinion this makes for a worthwhile documentation.

I just watched this a couple of days ago, and it seemed to me that the it did a very good job of showing that he was an awful person - so much so, that he self-sabotaged virtually everything he was a part of for any length of time at all.

His children were clearly very hurt by him - that much was plain. I'm not sure that any of them speak with him at all because he's such a $h!t all the time, and always has been.

I don't think that this documentary glorified him, but it did give him credit to his contributions as a drummer, and the fact that his drumming inspired so many others, but it didn't pull any punches about what a turd he could be.

My name is Gladiator - Maximus Decimus Meridius

Agree. If it wasn't for the son being told he
was worthless I wouldn't had commented. Also his daughter
talks about how they tried to abort her, she laughs and kids(?)
that maybe they should have, speaks volumes. Cheers

Anyone who loves animals like Ginger does is not a horrible human being.

reply

I love animals too but love my son more.

The film states that he lost his own father in WWII, his father left him a letter to read if he did not make through the war. The letter told Ginger that whenever things got tough he had to fight. One has to wonder what kind of person Ginger Baker would be if he had his father had been around.

True Lawrence but we all walk around with baggage, including you and I but would never treat my kids like dirt. But I agree
