Did you feel they forgave him

Just watched it today on Netflix (and enjoyed it quite a bit). I was left with the sense that at least his son forgave him and would give him a chance to get to know him again. The last two shots of the movie were of them physically moving toward each other (very slowly), and I felt that was a representation of how their relationship would proceed from that point.
