Hi. Well, I really don't wish to go into that right now because I am rather in process, so in that regard I could also be the third on your list. I have been published, having worked in the field, but I'm still trying to get where I want to go. Probably a grand futility but hope is eternal.

Hmmmm ... about cops, etc. Maybe that has to do with your past, too. You seem to indicate you were pretty poorly treated in childhood. I'm so sorry. I'm so glad you did survive. But maybe your past caused some paranoia. However, as a man, you have more of an experience of what one can experience at the hands of a cop than most females do, and I fall into the latter category.

I did feel I had neglected to add previously that it's all right, too, to do things for other people ... to make them proud, to fit in, etc., etc. ... all the stuff the hippies used to talk about in regard to the "establishment." I am really from that era but I never liked hippies. Now give me a good beatnik any day. But, anyway, it's okay, too, to allow yourself to be led also by societal or familial influences; it's all part of a fabric and you just have to decide what's good for you. And we can be held back by fears, but those can be confronted. I think those have really been my problem. However, I can see how given your past you really might not wish to capitulate to anybody's wishes.

However, it sounds like you're making good choices and you sound like a writer, too. And you haven't seen the film? What? I liked it. But then I'm closer to Helen Hunt's age. I think your wife will like the movie, and possibly you, too ... but you might relate less the younger you are. However, I have noticed it seems these days young people are far more open to respecting older people than in my day. That was when we also had the famous "generation gap." That doesn't seem to really apply anymore. So kudos. Well, good luck. Hope you don't mind my two cents and hope all continues to go well for you. Wish I could surf. :)
