this was one of the worst movies ive seen...i felt nothing but disgust at how mean they were & when ceras charecter shot that poor parrot..i hated him even more. the entire movie made NO SENCE& ended with me saying WTF??
No one in the movie was a sadist. If you take out Alicia's reactions, you can see that they're all just being very normal. Normal men/boys do things like hunt, taunt each other, make stupid jokes and occasionally cross the line with women. As for the OP - I hate that he shot the bird, too, but hopefully you realize that the movie is shot from the point of view of someone who agrees with you... that's the reaction it's meant to evoke.
They weren't "normal people" that I'd like to know. Barbara was a b*tch and Brink was an annoying moron. Sara acted like she cared alot but her actions didn't always support that and Augustin was inconsistent as "the good guy." This whole mess taxed my patients and left me feeling aggravated.
There were no sadists and the movie description is extremely misleading. What i saw and the plot synopsis have nothing in common except 'american student goes to Chile'.
Why not. I'd give it even more. It was scarier than most thrillers and horrors nowadays, and it's just had that something, something that keeps you captivated the whole time. You exactly felt what Alicia felt which, if nothing else that makes this movie successful. Great acting too ... Mind is a tricky thing ;)
Ok, if this movies so great tell me... was it realistic for Emily Browning's character to be looking around at everyone but Juno Temple while she's pouring that liquid into her mouth? She's dying and Emily's looking at all the idiots that don't even matter. It was tedious and irritating as someone else said. This rubbish actually made me mad and it's not about the animal cruelty.
Says the guy who doesn't even bother with correct grammar. By the way, being a girl has nothing to do with rating movies. Also, I'm a 23 year old Med student and I thought it was crap, so obviously age/intelligence is not the issue. I like how people post their opinions and you guys respond with personal attacks. Dumb-ass trolls.
I hated it too, The acting wasn't bad but the story is going nowhere, and the end is so stupid and inconclusive that I cant understand how an actor can read that script with that end and still made the movie, for what? a free plane ticket to chile?.
Don't bother with this movie, you are wating all the time to see what is the reason all this happens, and isn't more than and trouble girl, with some disorder for what she has some medications and she don't take them, feeling scare and alone, and then popping pills without supervision and herbs + slipping pills, and some mumbojumbo = the end.
Get a grip, the movie is creepy but nothing happens, the end is so normal and boring that make the rest of the movie worthless, She just DIED!!!!!, she was under some medication that she didn't take, the guy went over her stuff and was amazed how many weird medications she had, and with weird I mean not aspirins nor tylenol, stuff that those guys will not know what are for, also the muscular relaxers she took like 10 of those, some of them are very strong, she also had some "sleeping" pill at the older couple's home, also the herbs that no one knows what was it, and you can see in the ritual after some sips of the tea, that she is vomiting and swallowing cus is not on her side but face up and after that quiet and slow convulsions she stop breathing.
They really shot themselves in the foot by putting this in the Thriller genre, because morons like caotico69 will go into it expecting a slasher movie.
It's more of a psychological drama, and if you watch it with that it mind you'll enjoy it a lot more. I saw it two days ago and it still has me thinking about scenes and realising how well it was shot and edited.
Ultimately, it's about somebody with mental issues; whether that's schizophrenia, insomnia, extreme paranoia... it's up to the viewer to decide all that themselves.
And caotico69, why are you spamming your ending spoiler? Why be such a jerk just because you didn't like it?
This was an excellent movie. I don´t care which genre its put in. It was a good psychological thriller/horror whatever. Great acting, it had a continuous uncanny feeling to it. I think most people on this board are 16 year old's or just retards who expect a happy fulfilling Hollywood story and ending. It´s about a psychotic breakdown/mental illness and it´s portrayed very well, and that can be much scarier than all kinds of supernatural made up *beep* You guys are either too young, have bad taste, unintelligent or haven´t watched enough movies to judge good from bad. As far as slacking a movie off because it didn´t live up to your limitations, well that´s again, unintelligent.
