Concept stolen from Los Cronocrímenes

This movie is basically a lamer, Americanized version of one of the best time travel movies ever, except without the time machine. I am referring to Nacho Vigalondo's Spanish masterpiece Los Cronocrímenes (aka: Timecrimes). If you haven't watched Mine Games yet, don't. Spare yourself a waste of 90 minutes of mediocre acting and clumsy storytelling and instead, do yourself a favor by watching the mind blowing Los cronocrímenes (2007). You're in for a real treat.

Timecrimes was an excellent movie as was The Triangle, but most avid film fans have already seen both of em.

I wouldn't tell people not to watch this because it was a very entertaining cerebral kind of flick, it was a decent attempt at making a film in the same vein as the two previously noted.

If anything I would say to people; if possible watch The Triangle then watch Timecrimes and after you've seen them then by all means watch this.

The sad fact is that films that go outside of the box like these are a very rare find and they are all a nice break from the mundane and very formulaic B.S. that horror films stick to like glue.

If nothing else, this flick had a tangible creepy vibe to it - and it's been a long time since a movie intending to be unsettling actually unsettled me. So, that's a win for the film makers I guess.

Los CRONOCRIMENES is a fantastic film, Triangle is great too and Primer is mind blowing, but there's nothing wrong with Mine Games, extremely entertaining flick. There's also a good japanese time Paradox film about high school kids on a hot summer afternoon, but i cant recall its title.

Timecrimes, Triangle, Primer, etc are all exceptional films that explore the same topic. Id still have to say this is still a very watchable horror film if you like these kind of films. I liked it a lot.

Hey Guapo,

I think the name of the Japanese film you mentioned is Summer Time Machine Blues (2005). This is my second favorite time machine film after Los Cronocrímenes. It's well thought out, well made, well acted, funny, and just and overall great movie. Here's the link:

The first time I saw a concept like this was on Star Trek about 20 odd years ago.

Having said that it seems to me like this film was based on some form of psychosis in Micheals head.

Overall it was a poor attempt as there were a few errors if it was based on time travel or time fluctuation and not enough meat in the script for it to be based on psychosis.

Ahh well didnt cost much to make I guess.

Indeed, that's the one! Cool flick. And sorry for the belated response. Cheers.

Yesterday I would say the same thing about Timecrimes. Best time-travel movie ever.

But than I saw that one and this is like a much better version of Timecrimes!
Timecrimes made totally sense, I know that, but this one is much more sophisticated since it has 7 main characters, and not only 3 like Timecrimes! Sure it has some logical errors, but they tried very hard and for me, it was more entertaining than Timecrimes, even if Timecrimes had a better structure (but it seems like Nacho tried to make the story as simple as possible so that that he would not tangle up the chronology.

Tringle (as another user mentioned it), was simply crap, from a timetravel aspect. The whole "duplicat" thing, show that either the director has no clue of time travel or it is about parallel-worlds or something like that.

Sorry to say, but you didn't understand triangle. There is no time loop in it at all. Watch again and pay more attention to the car crash at the end, and the people/things she sees right before she dies.

Kinda makes sense you would like this more than the clearly superior timecrimes, nobody else has said this is better. I don't wanna be a jerk, but it's hard not to when you call a movie crap then go on to clearly prove you didn't understand it...

Why does it make sense that I like this movie more?
BTW.: I really love timecrimes, dude!

So what is Triangle about than, otherwise? Nearly every review I read about it, stated it was a load of *beep* If it was not about a time-loop the movie makes even less sense.

reply

how the hell is triangle not a time loop, when there is 50 chains or 50 dead women or 50 dead seaguls.

has you actually watched triangle or did you watch the soap opera?

reply

I thought Triangle was by the best of the bunch. Time Crimes would be second. This one was meh.

To call this movie a version of another one doesn't make sense, since the idea of a self-consistent time loop is much older. The oldest version I'm aware of is the novella "By His Bootstraps" of 1941 by Robert Heinlein, but I wouldn't be surprised if there was something even earlier.
