So effing miserable
So depressing. I think I will go and hang myself now
LeeAnn Rimes. No it doesn't.

I thought the series was a fine representation of how life may well have been in the period.
Must every story have a pat and pleasing ending to have value? Perhaps the constant stream of ephemera pouring in all its peppy vacuity from our TVs has affected some peoples' ability to recognize a fine story.
Just my opinion, of course.
Not at all misserable lol, very true its based on a true story derived from the diary of James Herriot himself... this is how vets were taught back then and it was an insight for everyone who gave a rats arse about watching, however, i will say 3 episodes only is an insult... there should be about 20 of them lol
shareBearing in mind the period this was set in - the depression years of the 1930's - I felt that the production was pretty close to what Glasgow may well have been like during that time. I liked the series, short that it was, if allowed to mature by having further episodes it may well become as loved as All Creatures Great and Small.
shareI think the BBC agree with the OP. Its been axed.
Its that man again!!
Agreed.
I wanted to see the story of James Herriot's early days. Instead I got a bunch of irrelevant side plots and two-dimensional characters molded in to a 3 hour civics lesson.
Poorly written. Quite dreadful.
Overdrawn and quite hopeless. Obviously the final episode was not a final episode as the non-writers left it as though hoping for another Serbs. With any luck there won't be any more. It was not about a young vet, it was formulaic rubbish. As a prequel to the TV series it was a disaster.
shareit was pretty gloomy. not sure why anyone thought it was a good idea to make this.
