Unfortunate results from high expectations for a sequel

I was actually excited for the film, the first film really showed what Tony Jaa is made of. I haven't seen the film and now I'm sure I want to. Reading reviews from movie-goers sounds like the Tom Yum Goong 2 fell victim of having too high expectations with more funding for the film. With the gimmick of 3D and CGI made the movie what I read, lose its tone from the first movie. The movie flop with fans and financially. We all love Tony Jaa, I believe still has a future international. But in some certain extend, anyone can't be successful without having a few strike-outs.
