Why did the white supremacist have to be Southern?

It annoyed me. OK it was a bit subtle but halfway through the movie I realized Hagan had a southern accent. Why did he have to have an accent at all? He was in LA after all. Why couldn't he just be from California? Usually stuff like that doesn't bother me but in this case as a Southerner I felt it was just unnecessary.

I didn't think it was that big a deal. Not all but lots of white supremacists are southern or from a rural background and movies tend to generalize certain traits. Why did all the Crips have to be black? Many Crips are mexican and some are even white. It just the stereotypes the average movie goer is used to.

Because this is another piece of Hollywood propaganda. Political correctness trumps all! The bad guys are all white, and just to make sure the idiot viewers get the point, they speak with a southern drawl and have a big swastika tattooed on their body. The good guys are all black. The main character has a half black or latina girlfriend. They throw the white, racist bad guys in the middle of a city where 99.99 of crimes are committed by non-whites, and assume the viewers have no problems with such a ridiculous inversion of reality.

How are the good guys all black? Those gang members were not good guys. They dealt drugs and sold illegal guns. That's certainly not my definition of "good guys"

I was offended to see a young Black teenager and his father, shot dead for no reason while the White guy in the store was made to live. I would have been just as offended had the teenager and his father been White and the Black guy in the store was left alive. I was also offended by the stupid comment about Black licorice. These movies need to stop making everything about Black and White and simply keep it human. There is good and bad in all of us and skin colour has nothing to do with human nature. They have good Black people just as they have good White people in this world... and then they have the worst of both. So let us keep it HUMAN first and foremost and dispense with all the Black/White generalizations.

He was meant to be the leader of a white supremacist gang though, so the beginning did make sense that he shot them dead. BUT Vinnie Jones character did go to kill Duhamel's character, he just escaped.

But you're right, they didn't need to make a supremacist gang. Also were they trying to make it out like the Eastside Crips were the good people?
