Back to his ruddy best...

Alan Partridge is just the best sustained comedy creation of my tv viewing days I think, from his inception in 'The Day Today' through 'Knowing Me... Aha!' and 'I'm Alan Partridge' and all his one-offs and specials I have just been in awe and think he's a genius character - tho I wasnt overly keen on some of the tail end episodes of 'I'm Alan Partridge' but these new internet broadcasts of 'Mid Morning Matters' are just pure unadulterated magic again.

Brilliantly written & acted shorts which inspire instant hits of nostalgia whilst yet offering something brand new and innovative - really do hope there are plenty more episodes to come. Takes me right back to the early 90s when after a distinct lull the British comedy scene and even music and the nations own general sense of discovery re-emerged as something truly meaningful and promising...ahhh good times..

Mid Morning Matters was delightful. The cinema ticket phone line was a standout.

Agreed. Steve seems to be really enjoying playing Alan again. Check out the Alan Partridge book signings on Youtube if you haven't already. Lovely stuff!

When is this Alan Partridge series coming to tv?

reply

Interesting, I'd genuinely never thought that he was phoning for a ticket to see Inception, I just assumed it was an Alan-esque telephone banking password!

Definitely the best from AP since IAP series 1.

The addition of Sidekick Simon is the reason in my opinion, that guy is hilarious, and Alan's desperation to keep ahead of his more talented sidekick is the key for this series.

It was ok but I preferred the two series of "I'm Alan Partridge". I miss Lynn, the PA. The studio setting became boring - Alan is not someone you want to be in a small room with (even as a viewer). Personally, I liked seeing him make a t!t out of himself in his personal life (although his Ukrainian gf became annoying by the end of the series). Alan's Spy who loved me act-out and air guitar playing to Gary Numan were classic. In comparison, Mid Morning was middle of the road.

They opted for no laugh track huh?

What do you think of that?

Balls out of the bath on this one...be honest

OP - just being a little pedantic but he first appeared in 'On the Hour', the radio precursor to 'The Day Today'. Well worth checking out if you haven't before.
