Why are all the mentioned pop songs FAKE?

When the BBC did "I'm Alan Partridge", all the pop songs that started were genuine, but with this Sky Comedy production, they've all been fakes, only sounding superficially like the originals - what was with that? Is Sky prone to litigation compared to the BBC?

Why are you here if you haven't seen the movie yet?

The BBC used some dodgy covers that were supposed to be the originals, too. "Roxanne" by The Police, for example. I expect it's a budgetary thing. The BBC have a blanket agreement with most record labels which means that their shows are able to use a lot more licensed music than they typically would be able to not on the BBC.
