There's someone in your yard
I just find this funny although it had no bearing at all on the plot of the movie.
Ethan Hawke sees the guy/monster from the movies in his yard staring from the bushes, as far as he knows there really is at least a serial killer on the loose who likes to kill families.
So what does he do? He takes a bat and steps out, leaving the door fully open and walks away from them so that anyone can now get in behind his back.
Again, this actually didn't matter at all for the movie or what he was really dealing with, but it was just hilarious decision making on his end.
