What could have been a wonderful psychological thriller...

...ends up being the typical ghost film. Why so many supernatural elements when everything could have gone fine without them.

There are several scenes in the film which, in my opinion, ruined it:

- When the protagonist sees a black dog and then a group of children stand in a row behind him. What's the point? Who's seeing the children? Me?

- The protagonist sees the Boogeyman's face on the computer screen and then, while he looks away, the Boogeyman turns his face towards the camera, looking at ME lol. WTF? Is the film trying to make me think I'm crazy?

I mean, it is THE PROTAGONIST who is driven mad, it's HIM who has to see those things, I'm not going to believe that a face in a photo from a computer screen can turn and look at me...

I'm demanding. I may hate Casablanca and enjoy Freddy vs. Jason

I totally agree. The history in the plot here is a lot more compelling than the present-day elements. I would much rather see the backstory of the killings than the current psychological response to them. And I found it very confusing when we see things that apparently Ethan Hawke's character doesn't.

Those supernatural elements are what made me love this movie. I enjoyed it very much.... It's a horror film and horror fans are pleased. If you want to see a phsychological thriller then you may want to find a movie that's actually a phsychological thriller.

I'm a horror fan and I'm not pleased.
