Deserves a Better Score
I'm a huge horror fan, and as a result am fairly desensitized to a lot of what passes as "scary" now-a-days. Having said that, I found this film genuinely unsettling. It wasn't a masterpiece by any means, but I definitely felt invested in the story-line, and the grainy , murder-footage scenes definitely left me feeling a bit disturbed. The ending was morbid blast as well. I was so glad it went the dark route, rather than settle for a "everything's all better now, despite all the horrors we've just witnessed" endings that I've been seeing a lot of lately.
I feel like this movie deserves at least a 7 on here. I haven't been spooked hard by a horror movie in a while, and this film, while certainly containing a few silly moments (Ethan Hawke refusing to use light-switches), definitely had me on the edge of my seat on multiple occasions.
Obviously that's just my opinion. What did you guys think?
