The kids (spoilers)

I liked the film as a whole. One of the things that let it down though was the make up they used on the dead kids. It just looked like bad Halloween make up. Same could be said of Boogie, who looks like a Kiss reject. If this had been slightly more subtle, or done slightly differently, same plot etc, for me personally it would have taken me that much further into the film. I didn't even mind the shushing thing that much at the end of the home movies, but it wasn't needed in the other scenes. The ghost kids should have also appeared much later as it gave the twist away a little too early. All in all a good film - atmospheric and tense. Soundtrack was terrific. Ethan Hawke plays tortured pretty well, and the lawnmower scene will go down in history.

It's too cerebral! We're trying to make a movie here, not a film!

i agree. when the kids and boogie appeared, that's when the movie severely went downhill. the kids looked like a bunch of tryhards trying to "scare" the audience with their dumba$$ makeup and the whole shushing gesture. it really annoyed me, esp. that kid by the pool doing the whole shush thing. don't know how much lower his head could've gone, but i wanted to kick him in his face.

and boogie appearing in physical appearance was just fcuckin stupid, and really took away from the creepiness he presented when he was shown on the snuff films. it really annoys me how so many directors w/ horror movies these days thinks that showing everything is, in someway, "scary". it really takes away from the creepy/disturbing feeling this movie gave before the kids and boogie showed up.

really, REALLY brought the film down. such a god damn disappointment
