A missed opportunity

In my opinion the movie would have been far more scary and sinister (pun intended) if Boogie was in fact a human serial killer who manipulated kids to murder their families. Sure he could be the leader of a cult or something, but not a supernatural being.

the supernatural has always been way more scarier on the big screen over serial killers . but when it comes to reality I agre i'm more afraid of what the guy/girl next door may have going through their minds than I am a ghost

Interesting analogy there. I would love to see a movie about serial killer who manipulates kids to do horrible things because we will never going to know what going on someones mind and its a tricky thing.

I personally think a better and scarier alternative would be if we never find out whether it's a real person or a demon, and it leaves it up to our interpretation, sort of like The Blair Witch Project (which is my favourite horror movie).

I disagree. I personally am more afraid of supernatural and demonic movies than realistic scary movies. While realistic scary movies, like serial killer type stuff, may be very suspenseful, it's not scary in the same way. You know that stuff happens in real. We Hear about people being murdered every day, which is more sad to me than scary. We do not REALLY know if ghosts or demons are real.... the unknown is much more creepy to me than the known. I had this friend when I was younger that said she saw ghosts. She swears she wasn't dreaming. While I have never experienced something like that, who am I to say that she's lying or crazy or just dreaming? Very scary.
